Power loss after installing h pipe
I have a pretty much stock motor and have bbk shorties. Today i installed a h pipe to get rid of the crap straight pipes the previous owner installed. One of the 02 sensors stripped out so i just plugged the hole. I went out to have some fun today and the car felt like i lost about 20 horse. Cars i always stick with blew me away. I am sure it has nothing to do with the h as i should have gained from it. Is it because of the o2 sensor missing?

dont have a cel built my own cluster a few years back. I am going to try to pull codes tomorrow and see what i got. I didnt think it would make this much of a difference to have o2s or not with such an old computer system

because they are old, makes the o2s that much more important. the entire tune is based off of just two inputs, o2s and maf

im not for sure if the 90's stangs use the sensors.(as i am new) but you are on the right track. pull the codes and go from there..
but what makes no sense is, it was straight pipe before and you added an h pipe. so really it shouldnt have bad a negative affect.

judas priest!! put the o2's back in, they measure oxygen content in the exhaust stream and are a necessary input to the ecm for adjusting inj pulse width accordingly to enrich or lean the a/f....hence you may experience drivibility issues as you describe

why not? do you think Ford put them on there for fun?
The EEC-IV system relies on O2 sensors to do real-time calculations for your fuel(and timing not sure on that) table, without them the ECU falls back on inefficient pre-programmed tables
EDIT: holy crap talk about forum lag, there was just one reply when I opened this thread

I installed a new o2 sensor in the place of the one i had removed and it seems to have the power back mostly. I also played with timing a little bit. Next week ill get another for bank 2.
