Default t5 help t5 help t5 help

Hey guys I need some direction. I bought a T5 from craigs list and wanted to take a look inside to see if there was any damage before installing it. I have the tail and cover plate off but the shifter forks got moved around. How can I get them right? I also think I may have f'd up because I think the trans was it fifth when I took the tail and cover off. Any help?

Neutralize your synchros by hand, neutralize the gate on the cover plate (all the little tabs line up) and SLIDE the cover plate on as you place it down. The cover plate should not lift straight up and down, you should have to push it to the side (toward the tab on the case) and lift up to get it off. It goes on the exact same way. If done correctly, the guide hole for the roll pin will be facing straight up. You will then have to hold the gate block in place (the deal with the spring and ball underneath it) in the extension housing in order to get the shift rail to line up with the gate block. Make sure the tab on the reverse brake ring thrust washer is in the 12oclock position when you slide the extension housing on! It has to line up with a notch in the ext. housing and it's impossible to guide it in visually. You just put it at 12 and let 'er buck

It sounds much more complicated than it actually is.
