instead of bothering with rebuilding your T-5, you should just look around for a TR3550 or 3650. You can get them for under 1 grand on ebay and they are considerably stronger than a t-5.

i'm pretty sure with most rebuild kits theres stuff you have to get pressed in, and have to take it to a machine shop or someone with a press. synchros are what meshes up each gear to match up to the gear your trying to get into. or something i think. the best price i could find on a rebuild is 700 in CO.

fixed it for you.

3650 and T45 are 4.6 trannies, the bell housing bolt pattern is different.

and T5's can b made very strong, im about $1500 into mine, will handle 550tq, has a .82 OD, and STILL weighs 75lbs as opposed to 100+ for the other options.

and you can beat the bolt in simplicity of a T5 either.

OP, check out astroperfromance.com, ask for Tony, he'll help you out.

why spend that on a t-5 hahaha i would have spent that money into a tko 600 more bucks for a better piece of mind and a better tranny

I'm planning on rebuilding my T5 in the next couple of weeks. I've done a little research and you don't really need any specialty tools. You can buy the Ford Racing 94-piece rebuild kit from jegs for just $326. Here's the link for the T5 complete service manual http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English...0-0199_173.pdf which shows how to take apart and put back together. Good luck either way!

Trust me, the removal of tapered bearings and inteference fit components isn't easily or properly done with pry bars and slide hammers. I still don't understand why people spend so much time and money to "fix" things and then shortcut obviously important steps. Dial indicators, special tools, slect-fit shims and torque specifications exist for a reason. USE THEM WHEN DIRECTED!!!
