motor swap question
hey all, im swapping motors in my lx and have a quick question. The motor coming out of the car (original) is obviously speed density. The motor im putting in the car is built 302 that was set up with mass air. Question is, do i have to convert the car to mass air, or can i run the new motor with speed density thats already in the car?? any help/advice is appreciated.

Mass Air is much more desirable than the speed density system. You have much more latitude in your 'tune' with MA. You will need a MA computer but I don't know about the sensors. There are people on this forum who can help you with the specifics.

I'd take the time to convert it if it were me.Ford Racing had a kit to do the conversion. If you don't have the money for the conversion, you should just be able to transfer the parts from the old motor to the new one to convert the new motor to speed density.

yea, i know the kit and switching would ultimately be best but this is indeed a budget build so im just doing the bare minimum for now. just wondering, what parts would be needed off the old motor to keep it SD?
