Default Am i retarded, or just stupid? (dizzy install)

Ok, replaced the lifters in my '94 Cobra today, and removed to dizzy to ease reinstallation of the lower intake. found TDC, (yes i plugged the hole with my thumb and waited for the compression stroke). While trying to reinstall the pro-billet dizzy, it partially seats but does not lock into the oil pump shaft. i look down inside and the oil pump shaft has somewhat of a gangsta lean. i can straighten it up using a flat head, but i do not think this is normal...but anyways i F'd with it for about an hour and could not get the dizzy to seat properly..am i missing something? i did drink plenty of beer and had a hellacious buzz going by the end of the night (managed to install an injector upside down, i'm not proud of it, but **** happens).

Rotate crank just a little. Then try to stab the distributor.

the lean doesn't matter, on install the dizzy will center it, use a 1/4 inch deep well socket and rotate the shaft a tad until dizzy will drop in, sometimes it takes me 3-4 rotations of moving it a little until shaft is positioned just right, and for future reference, no need to pull spark plug and go through all that crap, just mark/scribe a mark on dizzy bast and use a sharpie to mark rotor location and reinstall in same position is easy
