climiate control problems!!!
ok i have a 86 mustang gt. the climate control is screwed up, the heat and cool thing is ok but the fan only blows out the floor, if i move it to any other setting the fan will shut off. sometimes if i move another control the fan will shut off but if i push on the floor control it will turn back on. with winter coming up i need to have it at my wind shield. what do you think is the problem? please anything will help!!! thanks

and how did u learn about it...by taking hours and taking it apart and researching ****. im a high school student with this car as my DD. im also a total newbie with fords, hence my name. i don't have time to take 5 hours to take apart things and randomly see how **** goes together. that's why i advanced on your question. you didn't have to have a freaking attitude towards it damn.

There are 2 or 3 screws that go up into the dash panel to remove the plastic trim on the front of ur dash. Then there's a couple to remove the HVAC controls. The main vac line for your HVAC starts in the engine bay then comes through the firewall. The vac has .nothing to do with the blower motor though. That you will need to pull the controls and check the connections. Be careful on removing the HVAC controls though....the vacuum connector and control for temperature may only allow for so much movement....
Adder....calm down....some people really like to get insight before they start tearing into stuff. Especially the dash....luckily the 4 eye dash is very simple

I recently removed my hvac controls in my 86 to change the heater core, your vacuum lines will be ok, you will only have limited movement from the hot/cold connection to the blend door. Its 4 7mm bolts if I remember correctly, if not then its 1/4 inch. Very easy to get to when you take off the dash trim which is 3 bolts at the top only.
Now granted you should check the vacuum lines I highly doubt they are the issue. Reason being if there is a fault with them it became government mandated (can't remember exactly when) that the system defaults to blow on the windshield for safety reasons and I recall a recent post where this happened on a fox. Im willing to bet its a connector issue or the control panel but make sure your wires aren't rubbing on something and possibly grounding out somewhere
