mass airflow question
i just picked up a used 70mm mass airflow censor which i believe is from a cobra. it stated that it was a basic upgrade from my 55mm unit. since i already have a cai and a 65mm tb will this larger censor be a good idea? my manifold is stock as well as my injectors but the seller said it work fine. will all this air make it choke? i didnt pay much for the mass airflow so being not much of an increase in hp dont matter much but i hope it will run just fine. but just wondering, is it worth 3-5 hp?

you won't notice any azz-o-meter gain

if its the 70mm MAF from the 93 cobra, you should not use it
if its from an SN-95 cobra, youll be fine |
use your old sensor... or it will be calibrated for 24 lb injectrs... assuming it's the cobra one

you of all people know that factory ford maf's arent calibrated to an injector size |
Really I just learned somthing new so why do you have to get a calibrated maf when you change injectors instead of having it tuned??? Sorry for the dumb ????

A "calibrated maf" is used wen injector size is changed, but programming is not. The " calibrated maf" (when used with larger injectors) will tell the computer that there is less air entering the engine than there really is. This in turn, makes the injector pulse width shorter, allowing the larger flow rate injector to flow less fuel. basically, a calibrated maf lies to the ecm, to get it to do what it wants. The PROBLEM with this, is that not all calibrated maf's work exactly as they are intended to. There are issues where some need to be clocked, some will run funny if you have a bend too close to the inlet. And others, STILL require tuning! |
so a factory cobra maf that thinks it has 24 l/b injectors would work on a 19 l/b injector car?

Example.. 1994 and 1995. The 3.8l V6, GT, and Cobra all use the same MAF |
Ok cool sorry for the confusion.... Are all of them 70mm
