Default fly wheel

, ive just noticed. that my fly wheel has a heat fracture, and needs to be replaced. My question is im looking to replace it, and i keep seeing all these different wight flywheels, I would think that lighter is better, but i see ones form 31 pounds down to 12. what is a goot wight, for a street strip application.

the ulta light flywheels and aluminum flywheels are meant for high reving and road race applications. If you were to use one on the street it would create idle issues along with the need for high rev take offs from stoplights. For a street strip application the ideal flywheel would be a steel one because it will have a longer life in a street application and the extra weight allows the momentum needed to keep the rotating assembly moving when the clutch engages at low r's or launching at the strip. I run a steel centerforce flywheel which weighs about 28 pounds but many companies sell them similair to that weight but steel between 25-30lbs would be your best choice.
