have a 90 lx with an exploder swap from a 98. when i start the car up and drive just a couple miles, and shut it off(basically before it gets up to normal operating temp.) when i restart it, it will not hold an idle to it gets up to normal operating temp. what could be causing this? if i leave home and drive till it gets up to operating temp then shut off, and restart it is fine.

i have tried replacing the IAC, but that didn't seem to fix it. i can also unplug the IAC while its running, and it won't kill the motor. i didn't do the motor swap and i am mechanically challenged. i am however learning quite a bit on these forums.

it is throwing a code, tried to pull the code, and got nothing. im thinking the diagnostic port might not be hooked to the brain.
