Well, almost had it going.

The thermostat might had slid down between the intake and the t-stat housing check their . I had that happen once to me I chased a leak for like two days it was a really slow one, but enough to cause the engine to overheat.

Try it without the thermostat, just to see if it's circulating. Blown head gaskets will usually cause A LOT of bubbling out the radiator fill neck. NAPA and others still make a tester that sticks into the radiator neck, and with a squeeze bulb, draws air through a blue colored liquid. If there is any exhaust gas in there, the liquid turns yellow. I still have one somewhere. That yellow color used to make me cry!

Did you reverse the coolant lines to the heater core?

tried swapping them but still no difference..

Here's what i did today

-Backflushed the cooling system, and put on a new cap

-drove the car around, when i'm driving, the heater works, but when idling, it doesn't.

took the car for a 30 mile round trip and it did great, didn't overheat any, stayed between the "R" and the "M" the whole trip. while driving the heat works just as it should...but after driving there is a lot of pressure on the upper rad. hose...
