Tuners
#11
Minnow, thanks for the info. I guess I call it a tuner because it is used to tune the car, but it is not a hand-held tuner so I can see where it would bs consisted a chip. I did see the PMS system and saw that it gave the user total control. Didn't quite like the $900 price tag, but hopefully you get what you pay for with it. I will check into the others too. Thanks.
Look into the Moates Quarterhorse. Its $250 and allows for more tunability than the piece of crap PMS.
And consider your SCT chip whatever you want. SCT doesnt sell a "tuner" for the 5.0 cars. They do however offer a tuning suite, which will allow you to burn a CHIP to plug into your ECM.

i second addermk2 he frequents eectuning.org if its the same person im thinking of
the quarterhorse is without a doubt the most versatile means of tuning the 89-95 mustangs, at the current time is sends the competition into the dark ages.
if you want to get into tuning the place to start would be eectuning.org
to start tuning yourself you'll need:
250 quarterhorse
80 registration of binary editor 2010 software
200 wideband o2
and you'll be on your way
if you decide you want to go another route, send me that sct chip and i'll reprogram it for you PM me if interested

Thanks for all the info. I think I am going to give the Quarterhorse a shot. Now I saw the chip and the software on the Moates site but not the wideband sensor. Is that on their site to purchase? I am ready to remove my SCT chip. The closest SCT dealer with a dyno is a 6 hour drive away and after what they did to my car I will not be taking it back there. When we added the supercharger the car had 30# injectors and a 75mm MAF. The car was very responsive up to about 4500 rpm then began leaning out. I upgraded to an 80mm MAF and 42# injectors. That took care of the leaning out issue but now the car can be tricky to start after it is warm and it has a slight hesitation when you hit the throttle. Acts like it is loading up with fuel. It was dyno tuned with this new setup but something just isn't right. The Quarterhorse advertises that it helps with the starting issue big injector cars can have. I just want something that I can play with and not have to trailer it 6 hours to have computer adjustments done to it. Thanks again.

the problem with most large injector applications is that nobody tunes the injector timing at low RPM's. The computer doesnt read the MAF on initial cranking, it just fires the injectors for a specified period of time.
Such is why I always suggest NOT running a calibrated MAF. But if you HAVE TO.. make sure you get the maf transfer sheet so you can program the proper calibration into the ECM, along with setting the injector high and low slopes, as well as the cranking PW.
