I bought an enginge cleaner that you just spray all over the engine and then just wash off. Will the water harm anything in there? Also, I have a cone filter on my intake, do I need to cover/ take off & cover it or what??? Thanks for any info...

First, this is the TECH section! This should be posted in General Discussion.

Anyways, to your question...

Cover your intake with a plastic bag or any bag that will fit over it. Then cover any exposed electrical connections. Then spray your bay with the degreaser and scrub everything down with the proper brush.

Do not spray water directly onto your computer, battery, or electrical connections etc and you will be fine.

Start the car and run it for 5-10 minutes after you have washed it down with water.

Detroit Style

Cover the air filter, then go to town. Either have the car running while rinsing or, use compressed air to blow out any water in electrical connections.

Get a can of wd-40 to spray on plug wires when it will not restart.
