351W conversion
Why not a 347? The 351 would require a new intake and distributor I believe. Plus your stock hood will have to go. I have the stock 302 in my 91 and with a Typhoon intake it rubs a little on the factory liner.

??? i gots a 351 just the other day.... i can't wait to start working on it.... the distributor is the same... the only thing is a 351 has a taller deck height so u do need a different intake... not so much taller but wider....technically i think they all rub a lil as does my new intake on my 302...

I did this swap a few weeks ago and the distributors are different. The shaft on the 302 is 1/4 inch and the 351 shaft is 5/16. The flywheel is a different balance, 50 oz to a 28 oz. If you plan to use your H-Pipe the headers are different as well. The oil pan is different, the bearing caps on the 351 are bigger so the 5.0 pan wont work. The intake is different and you have to modify your fuel rail because it wont be wide enough for the new intake. I bought the BBK conversion headders and they fit like a dream. The trick flow 351R intake is awesome! Depending on what accessories you are running up front you may have some problems. I run V-Belt so its no big deal for me. Put the Motorsport Z cam in, I love it. I have 5" cowl and have no problems so your 6 inch will be no big deal. I am glad I did the conversion and would do it again. It was a little frustrating working the bugs out but thats what it is all about. Dave
