Default help with balance issues on 331 short block

i recently got my 331 kit from a guy in town the problem is it was balanced with flex plate for auto then they converted to 5 speed and then had vibration. my question is can anyone give me an idea on what size balancer and flex plate or flywheel i need so i can order the correct stuff so i dont have to spend the money to get it checked and the spend more to get it balanced. and would it be better to go c-4 or t-5 tranny all help and input is grealy appreciated and i believe the crank is scatt cast and rods are scatt pistons are drp .030 over

first off, you'll have to see what balancer is on it??? meaning see if it was balanced originally to 28 oz..........most street/strip strokers are 28oz balance and most likely when they converted to 5 spd they used a stock 50 oz balance flywheel, hopefully it wasn't run that long like that or the bottom end could be toast...post a pic of the counterweight on the harmonic balancer and or weight on the original flex plate for verification

thanks for info but it didnt come with the balancer or flywheel and when tore it apart the journals were not discolored or no wear indications and bearings were not discolored or any wear issues so in my case i am going with the 28oz and then i willl just get 28oz balancer and flywheel or flex plate and then re balance

i had a similar problem in my mustang. If you run it with the wrong balance on it you will end up replacing your crank, they are like 350 bucks a piece, i know i had to replace mine. but both the harmonic balancer and flywheel i have on mine is a 28oz and i have the t-5 and when i put the balancer and flywheel in it everything stopped vibrating.
