AOD Transmission in 1995 Mustang GT
Recently had the AOD replaced in my daughters 1995 GT at a local repair shop. I drove it for the first time this weekend and noticed the following problems. When taking off from a stop the car was sluggish like it was starting off in second gear. When I shifted the trans manually and put it in low, the car wouldn't move, almost like a transbrake was in use. When cruising at highway speed the kick down didn't seem to work properly. When the trans was in drive it seemed to work just fine other than the slow initial take off. Any ideas?

you have an aod-e,i know electronic is the e part but don't know exactly what it controls. on mine if i had that problem it would the tv adjustment. there is a separate cable on the tb just for the trans.google how to set it (if you have it) i would guess you have one but have no idea. but the bottom line is just pressure adjustment.

actually multiple issues going on
yes it's an AODE, but mostly the same as an AOD
the "sluggish" feel is mostly because it's an automatic, and probably has 2.73 gears. it weighs about 3800 lbs. you can check your door tag for the code... m=2.73 z=3.08 e=3.27
line pressure would NOT make it completely not move.... it will increase the "stiffness" of the shifts and if it's wrong will ruin the trans. but unless it was extremely off and i dont see how it could be... thats not the problem
i would guess more along the shifter cable being incorrect.
at hiway speeds, OD will NOT engage when at WOT, so i don't know what u were doing, and based on your speed, it might only downshift from 4 to 3 anyways. they are junk trannies IMO, i have owned 2 of them and refuse to use one if you gave it to me
my comment on it being slow is based on the gearing of the trans itself
my first AOD car i bought brand new, it was 1990 GT, i went through 3 or 4 trannies in that car before finally giving up, so i am speaking real experience based on a new car... not a 5th owner backyard wrenching thing.
