Transmission Problems.

Got it pulled apart & it looks like only 1st gear is messed up. Could I just have a transmission shop replace 1st & do a rebuild on it or is the whole trans junk? It looks like there was a lot of fluid coming out of the transmission by the speedo gear.
And is this what they mean when they talk about bad main shafts?
