Default kickdown cable issue

i have a slight issue with my 93mgt. its an atx, and it seems about once a year the plastic clip that holds the kick down cable to the TB snaps, and i lose 2nd gear. i allways just go to ford, and pick up a new one, but they never last. is there any aftermarket companies that have thought of this, and released a metal version? basically im tired of having to replace this clip so often.

I was told that Ford did come out with a new version of it. Finding a parts guy that is not a Burger Flipper in disguise is the hard thing.

i wasnt sure what it was called exactly, just basic knowledge of cars would call that a kick down cable.

to the question of what im doing to it, answer is very little. car see's about 300-1000 miles a year, and spends most of its life in my father in laws air plane hanger under a cover. i very rarely drive it. and when i do, its babied. there is no abuse to this car. its still totally stock and staying that way as long as i own it, till i pass it on to my kids. and they will be raised to understand what the car is, and that the condition of it makes it above most others on the roads.

well with how thats going on maybe something with how its stored is causing the plastic to deterate. things need to breath, if that helps

older cars had kick down cables when used with carbs. newer ones use TV cable and go off line pressure

your talking about the adjustment trans cable that is connected to the throttle bracket right? the one that kicks the trans down when you stomp on the pedle? i busted mine to ****. i went to autozone and bought a "E" clip and a few washers and it still works after 7 months.
