Default 5.0 Coolant Temp/Pressure

I have a 95 GT 5.0. The coolant temp runs on the high side of normal, just short of line before it gets to the red. I replaced the radiator along with the thermostat and cap. I had the cooling system checked and the said the pressure was really high. I have not noticed any bubbles in the coolant. It doesn't really use any coolant. Once in a great while the car will smell as though it is burning antifreeze. No white smoke either. It has 95k on the odometer. How much would it cost to replace the head gaskets??

if your paying for labor, a lot!! half the motor has to be dissasembled to do a head gaskets swap. id spend $20 on a compression tester and check your compression. it might not be a head gasket.

who told you your coolant pressure was too high? what pressure was it? if your radiator cap is working correctly you can never have too high of pressure in the coolant. anything over 16psi would just blow out into the over flow tank. how long have you been using the same radiator cap? if more then a year or two, get a new one.

Are you sure what temperature really is? Sending unit or gauge may not be accurate. Get a temperature reading other than factory gauge.

they all age differently. i pms gives me a digital temp read out, it gets its signal from the factory sender, the autometer has its own sender and they both sink up perfect yet the factory gauge in the cluster is way off.

I tried to bleed the cooling system. I drove it 30 miles and it did not get warm, ran in the middle. On the way home it ran hot, all the way to the edge of the normal, just shy of hot. When I pop the cap and let it run, there are very very small bubbles that come up. I would imagine that I need to run a compression test. Very frustrating.
