just bought the car? do a tune up. anytime ive ever bought a car thats the first thing i did and i change out all the fluids, you have no idea some of the crap ive run into when people are selling cars. I'd say that is where you should start.

I got the car 1 year ago but i probably havnt even put 1000 miles on it. I have changed the fluids already. I guess ill do a tune up next.

It has done this sputter thing since i got it. Ever since i put on the off road H pipe i have had this running rich problem. I know removing Cats will give it more of a exhaust smell but this is much more than that.

How old is the fuel in the car...just a sugestion. As well mine being an 88' SD car I fought with a poor idle for a few years and slowy replaced all appropriate parts, make sure your TB and IAC are clean as well. Can't hurt to add a good bottle of octane with a cleaner in it. Have you checked for vacuum leaks. I had a nasty one this past spring when the car came out of storage in the lower intake gasket. The car sounded like it had a real steep cam and ran terribly rich. good luck.

Forgot to mention I agree with the tune up......always a good idea. Have you though of replacing your O2 sensors? It will be interesting to see how the car does after a complete tune up......plugs,wires,cap/rotor etc.

The fuel is new. I have run a octane with cleaner once and i have also run seafoam through.

I have thought about the o2 sensors but since i didnt get the code i figured they were good. Is that true or does it not catch things that are bad sometimes.

Sorry i am new to all of this.

Ok, going to bring back my old post here. I had a mechanic check out my car. What he found is that the car is actually running lean. He said #3 injector is lean causing it to try to compensate.

It still idles a little rough, but i no longer have the sputtering during load. Something he showed me was if you pull the vacuum line off of the fuel regulator that the car will smooth out and run good. But yet he says the regulator is still good and doing its job. Doesnt make sense to me though.

I dont want to go buy a new set of injectors and that not cure it.

Also, i did do a tune up and also put a new MAP sensor and PCV valve.
