My car will not go past about 2300 rpms in 1st gear then shifts to 2nd. It does it at about 20 mph. It doesn't matter how much I floor it it wont go past 2300. If I put it manually in 1st it will get up to 2300 and stay there, its like something is holding the car back like i am towing something and its only in 1st.

I currently rebuilt the trany ( Steels and Clutches ) and I am thinking it might something to do with the valve body. Maybe a actuator? IDK anyone have any tips... Oh when I put the car back together it ran good. for about a day in auto. When I dropped it into 1st and gunned it up to red line then shifted it didn't shift hard in to second it lost power and glided over. Then it slipped out off gear and has had a missed up 1st now. It hasn't slipped anymore.

OK well I fixed it. It wasn't the trany at all it was the MAF sensor. I Googled my problem and a tuner forum said to try the MAF. So i disconnected it and tried 1st gear manually and like that it worked of course i had no power but it went to red line. I cam back cleaned up all connection points and put back together and it works great now!
