Default Need water pump help

Once again I need your guys help. I have an 87 stock 5.0 I put in a new water pump because the old one's gasket blew. I put the new one in and coated the gasket front and back with permetex and cleaned the crap out of the timing chain cover it was really smooth. Also I belive I had the gasket lined up perfectly. I drove the car for about an hour everything was fine and boom the new gasket also went. Should I have waited 24hrs to let it cure or does it really matter? And also does anyone know what the torque settings is for the pump bolts are. What have I done wrong? Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

Did you clean the crap out of water pump? Torque is 12-18 foot pounds. Just small piece of old gasket will ruin your day. Mark where it is leaking and check the area closely when you get it apart.

I have nevered used permatex. I always use automotive schlack and the gasket that comes with the water pump. I've never experienced a single problem using this method my 91,92 & 94 mustangs.

Is the gasket on backwards. It doesn' look much different when reversed.

Also is the timing cover in good condition. I've seen them rot from the inside out. Making the sealing surface pretty thin.
