Another timing question????
Well im back.. I got out of the Mustang's for a while and went to the bowties but im happy to say that im back..... I just recently bought another foxbody and im looking to see where i would benefit the most timing wise. Here are the mods:
302 roller bottom end with forged flat tops
E7 heads
b303 cam
gt40 upper and lower
ford motorsport headers
24# injectors
C&L maf
bbk powerplus fpr
75mm t/b and egr spacer
MSD 6al-2
I am just wondering what would be the best timing for that set up. Its at 14*btc now. Always run 93 octane
Also have a 125 shot but never sprayed it yet and what would be best for timing spraying it.

depending on your compression ratio, you might be wasting money on the 93 octane.
Get some real heads and a maf that is worth more than a log of poo, and youll see a major jump in power.
and I'd be running 12°...
125 shot, start around 8°

agreed, id run 87 octane and 12* timing. you'll probably make more power
on the 125 jets, i'd go 10* timing and 93 octane
but for everything you should powertime... all cars are different
start low and make runs at the track, note the ambient conditions. temp, humidity etc.
bump 2* per run and where you make the highest mph.. not ET... is your optimum timing for that weather.
do the same on the smack, but start about 8* and go from there
you will slow down b4 you see any ill effects of detonation
fyi, on 80 dry, i use 87 octane and about 12* timing. unless it's hot... i take more timing out. have gone as high as 14* timing on 87 octane, but it was nice and cool and at night
but i also know my car pretty well, so i dont recommend it

Most SBF's do best with about 34-36* total timing. Most of the time, you don't get much extra power by adding more, but you do run a higher risk of detonation.
Set your base timing with a vacuum gauge; set it where the vacuum is the highest. If you don't have a vacuum gauge, you can use a cup of water. Set it on the fender, and set base timing where the water is smoothest.
From there, add enough mechanical advance to get you to the 34-36* mark.
