Hey all, this is my first time posting on this forum so if I'm asking any silly newbie questions I'm sorry. I have an 89 LX 5.0 Hatchback but it has been out of commission for about 7 years. it has recently been brought back to life with a GT40 crate motor and some professional help. Well ever since we got her running again the speedo hasn't been working. The shop i took it to did do a transmission tune-up but I don't think they would have overlooked hooking the speedo gear up. do you think it may just be the speedo cable? any inputs would be greatly appreciated.

If they forgot to hook up the speedo cable into the tranny it would have taken you less than a block to know for sure. If its a T-5, I dont know about automatics but, the 5 spd would blow the transmission fluid strait out the hole and stink really bad, I know from experience lol. But if it's the original cable its more than likely bad. Mine was rusted in half in the sheath. Easy fix though, only $18 also.

i would pull the speedo gear out and take a look at it. make sure its not stripped
