Default Head swap

I have the potential to buy a mustang on craigslist with alot of extra work than mine does. The obvious answer is to sell my car now and keep the new one. The only thing that worries me is that he track raced it and I don't know how well the bottom end will be. I know my motor has 90,000ish on it. This is going to sound crazy, but I'm thinking of swaping heads from his engine to mine, then swapping out the entire motors just so I had a motor I knew was somewhat reliable. We both have the same cam and stock bottom ends so it's really unnecessary to do the swaps, but like I said I bet his motor is beat to ****. If I DID want to swap heads, how hard would it be? Can I just mark the orientation of the cam and crank, pull the assembled heads off, and bolt them on? Or do I have to disassemble the heads?

Remove heads...Remove exhaust manifolds, intake manifold(upper&lower), valve covers, rocker arms, pushrods, distributor, fuel lines, hoses, wires, and might want to take heads to machine shop to get freshened up.

Ah damnit, I don't feel comfortable doing all of that and don't have the money to pay someone. Disassemble won't be as bad as reassembly. Why would I need to take out the distributor? (I ask this because I don't know, not trying to be a smart ***)

Distributor removal, to get lower intake off. Spend $20 on Haynes manual and you will have greater insight.

Exactly. If you can read the book you can more then likely do the job your self. Label everything and take lots of pictures for reference when it comes time to put it all back together. Once you get it done, the smile is even bigger knowing you did it your self.
