5.0L won't idle on its own.
Having a brain dump... My 5.0L won't idle and is somewhat hard starting. To preface the situation, I had to replace the 2nd water pump and timing cover and prior to the disassembly the engine purred (210K) worth. During the teardown I had to use mapp gas to remove some stubborn bolts. I did not remove the timing chain or touch the distributor. Although the TFI was in the general area, it did not get direct heat. I wonder if I fried the TFI just because it was in the general area ( 6- 8 inches above the action). It will start and run if smooth if I hold the pedal halfway down but only @ 700-800 RPM but then does not respond to further throttle advance. Anything obvious that I may be overlooking? I'm going to check the timing just in case but any suggestions would be appreciated. Part of me wonders if I fried a wire down under but I amd still looking to see and never saw or smelled any plastic burning. Thanks in advance.

Found in my angst that I must have hit the distributor pretty hard (probably when I broke the 6 of the 7 water pump bolts) But safe to say it's been retimed to 13* and is running sweet for 210K... Thanks for the humor!
