Not starting..?

Happy 4th of july guys...im bbq'n with a rona in my hand anyways yesterday out of no where my car doesnt turn on? i tryed jump starting it but the batterie was dead. today i change out the starter cylenoid but no luck. i noticed the ground cable to the batterie was starting to smoke..? everytime i try to start car it just clicks once? almost like if the starter is stuck but then it kills the batterie.., not sure why? can it be because i need a new ground cable? i put 2 differentgood batteries in and it killed both? I know the problem is electric but cant be that complicaed! The car was fine days ago. Help me out guys because my car is about miles from my house and dont have the cash to get it towed home.

Well after changing both battery cables and bang'N the starter i got a very, very weak turn. After that i had no power until i turned the key back. I took off the starter and tested it sure enough it didnt turn over. It was causing a big short, hopefully nothing else got fried. Im going to istall the new starter, ill let you guys know later. weird.., iv never seen a starter do this, burn my cables.

The starter was probably drawing way too many amps if it was binding and depending on the gauge/condition of your cables, that will explain why the cables may have smoked :)
