Default Emissions Smell inside the car

Hello everyone,

I just picked up a 90 5.0, and have notice in the past day or so, a strong emission smell inside the car, could this be an exhaust leak or another problem? has anyone had the same issue? I am taking it to the muffler shop to have a new set of flowmaster this weekend. All help welcome. the car currently has shorty headers an X-Pipe with highflow cats and a Bassani catback (clap down). Never had this issue with any of my past Mustangs.

I want to get this issue fix, as I dont want my little one in the car at this time

thanks,

Luis

I too have this problem. I don't have any emissions equipment at all. I believe my car was originally an auto and converted to a 5-speed, I can't find any reasonable locations for the shift boot. I tucked the shift boot down into the hole where the shifter is and it helped alittle, but a good amount of air still flows up through my center console. Try checking there?

The shifter thing shouldn't matter exhaust tips exit from the back . Try inspecting your trunk seal.

Haha yea mine is pretty crappy. I may have a leak at my headers but don't have a freaking deep socket for my 1/2" that I can get a good grip on with an extension. ><

Thanks Bro,

I will be receiving the new seals in the mail any day, I order the weather strip for the whole car. Hope it works, I will also re-torque the bolt on the hearders to make sure everything is good. does anyone know the right tork for the reader bolts? I guess i can google that info.

thank you all
