94 mustang gt computer problems?

94 mustang gt, t-5 swap, LT headers, CAI, Off road X-Pipe, Flowmaster dumps.
wont idle with SPOUT connector connected. idles perfect with it out.
lean missfire at high RPM's under high load.
I have been told the 94-95 computers do not respond well to bolt ons, is this true?
should i get a fox computer? and tune.

set your timing properly, If my car runs on a stock computer, yours will too

wterrell 07-07-2010 09:15 PM

I set the timing corectly,
didn't change the computer when i did the t-5 swap.

well, if the things you have listed in your first post a is everything youve done to the car, then you dont have crap for mods, and you have a mechanical problem... its not the computer

wow, i don't need someone telling me my car is ****ty. im 18 and it's all i have right now. I posted to see if anyone could help me. but obviosly you don't know anything.

when i set the timming with the SPOUT connector out which takes the computer out of the picture, right? it will idle perfectly.
then i shut it off put the SPOUT connector back in it searches for idle but then stalls. MAF, IAC?

If you don't know say it. if you have ideas let me know.
and don't say "it works for my car it should work for yours too".

well, with your limited diagnostic abilities... Id say bring it to a shop.

But heres a few things you can try first.

Scan your computer for KOEO and KOER codes
Search for vac leaks
clean the IAC motor
Clean the maf
search again for vac leaks
check TPS voltage
perform base idle reset

If your problems persist, refer to my signature.

and dont you ever get snippy with me. I never once said your car was "****ty". I said you dont have crap for mods. A full exhaust and a cold air intake... are not noteworthy modification.

I do have a 3.73 gear, SPEC Stage 2+ clutch, adjustable clutch cable, double hook quadrant, and aluminum D/S. I didn't think that would have anything to do with a engine problem.

but thanks for the advice, i will do a KOER, KOEO, this weekend, at work.
What do you recomend on cleaning the maf that won't ruin it?

CRC maf cleaner
