Default 4lug to 5 lug conversion

hey guys I want to do a 4lug to 5 lug conversion. I know there are some kits out there to do it but I'am kind of thinking about doing a budget build on this. do y'all have any suggestions of any sort. I have been told to get two ford ranger right rear axels and they will work but I do not trust myself doing the rear end.

If your on that tight of a budget, I thought there was a sticky here somewhere that explains exactly what swaps to what for a 4 to a 5 lug. I can't remember where, you may have to look a little.

And swapping axles isn't involved at all. Pull pumpkin cover, remove c-clips, pull axles out. Easy peasy

OK, that's the shortened version, but if you can turn a wrench, you can replace your axles. YouTube videos on step by step are there for you. Good luck

I'm not sure how much of a budget you're trying to go on, but I know sites like American Muscle and Late Model Restoration have kits, video's, and write up guides to assist you. If nothing else you can make your list of the things you will need and learn how to do it. Also, assuming you are not upgrading your brakes, you could do your fronts and backs at different times. It may look slightly funky, but who says you have to do the front and back at once if you're only doing a 5 lug conversion?

would it be possible to swap 94/95 rear axels with the disc brake assembly. I heard of a guy that did it once but I never asked if he had to modify and stuff.. my budget is kinda 2000. but that depends on our work fields and etc.. the reason I ask is cause I have access to a 95 gt but I am trying to make sure before I decide to do it

For the SN95 conversion, it's possible to do it for under 2,000. First off you will need spindles from a 94 or 95 V6 or GT (does not matter), so grab those. The guy at northracecars.com can help you out with any parts or questions you may need. He is very nice and knowledgeable. IMO get a master cylinder from a 93 Cobra, a 93 Cobra brake booster, your rear kit from northracecars.com, and all your lines from Maximum Motorsports. The rest is up to you.

I spent about 2,000 doing my SN95 Cobra/5 lug upgrade, and it was worth every penny.
