Ummm someone's full of **** here and I think it's the new edge *******, there are such things as 4.88 gears, and what's up with the comment "but if a new stang is slower than an old one then there is something wrong". Hmm, I guess your bullet proof ferrari slayer 4.6 is faster than an old 428 C/J 'stang? Damn, it really isn't that hard to beat your 281 and plus we paid a fraction of what you paid for yours. Sucky my cocky new edge.

christ, you guys just wanna argue. I was comparing a stock fox 5.0 to a stock 99-04 gt. sure the damn king of the road stang is faster, and so is eleanor. I never said my newer 4.6 was the fastest ever. compare an 03 cobra to those cars, not my gt. I also never said your 5.0's were crappy, I just answered the stock vs. stock question, and you guys all freak out about it. save the **** sucking for hondas. I like stangs, you like stangs, what is the problem here? I'm willing to line up against a stock 5.0 fox, but it'd be a waste of gas for me to line up against a GT500. Do all the 4.6 guys come in here and rip on you guys or what?

believe me, I know my 4.6 isn't the ****. I run away from ls1's at the slightest chance, cause they will put a 4.6 in it's place quick, but I post something to answer the question and all hell breaks loose. I'd have gotten a fox too if I wanted a drag machine, but I wanted a fast reliable street car, so I got a newer stang. and believe me, it will run faster than a stock 5.0. The 4.6 is a very good motor, not big displacement, but it revs like hell. 5.0's feel faster at low end, but in a speed contest, the 4.6 will pull away eventually. I didn't know I'd have to dodge bullets in here.

ding ding schools in son. sit back and get schoold by someone that knows way to much more then you.
4.6s need to rev they are built using what imports use. OHCs. with overhead cams they dont use push rods and dont make as much torque down low. they do make power but up higher in the rpms. this is why you dotn see many stock 2v making huge low range numbers. you need a steep gear for them to get into their power range alot quicker.
if you never heard of a 4.88 then you really dont know much about cars and shouldnt be questioning my knowledge. many companies make them and here is a part number for a richmond 8.8 gear RMG-6903821
ive driven a new edge and they arent as torquey as a 5litre and from a dig a 5 speed stang with 308s stock will walk a 4.6 5 speed with stock gears. you find one and ill get a t5 5.0 308 geard stang and show who is faster
as for old vs new. any generation of stang can perform with the right driver. stock 5.0s can hit 13s same with any other newer chassis

try again bud, do some searching 2v 4.6s like steep gears and its been done. none PI motors dont peform all that well unlike PI motors

sorry but 2v 4.6s arent really worth it. now a 4v 4.6 would be worth modding. if you live in my area ill make sure to run ya with a stock stang. and youll see which car pulls better from a dig.

sorry but you run from an LS1 with a 2v4.6 and ill challenge him. and ive had fun agaisnt a few when the motor was stock. all i had was gears, stall and U/L cas and tires. those boys didnt do to well from a dig. and before you speak again yes they had tires also
the 2v4.6 isnt that great of a motor, its a nightmare with its cam chains and overhead cams.. sorry pushrods are still teh better setup and make alot more power.
and if youre talking about rollracing and racing from 100mph plus then ok, you got a point but who really does that but roll racers. real men race from a dig
