Default Any idea why fuel pump keeps going bad?

I am installing a 5.0 into my 65, i finally got it to start up after replacing the fuel pump (5/29). About 2 weeks ago (7/4) I had to take it back to auto zone because it wasn't working any more, this after installing it about a month ago. they gave me a new one and after installing it fired right up. yesterday i tried to turn it on and the fuel pump wont prime. I connected it strait to the battery and it isn't working. On the 4th after finishing bleeding the hydraulic clutch I moved the car into the garage and disconnected the battery. It stayed there till yesterday and now the pump is bad. Any body have any idea why this could be happening? Thanks ahead of time motor is of a 1990 mustang 5.0.

where is the pump located (in the rear or front)? are you running a filter pre-pump? how much voltage is the pump seeing?

Lucky the pump is located in the back in the gas tank. It has a strainer at the end of the fuel pump, sorry don't know what a filter pre-pump is. And Honestly i don't know how much voltage the pump seeing? How could I check that, and how much should it be at?

I was looking at your sig and dreaming about a tubo. When I noticed the upper rad hose. What kind/material of pipe are you using for you upper rad hose. I wanted to do something similar but was thinking t would be hard to have the ends rolled or something so the rubber hose part won't slip off.

Yep, Do not buy parts from autozone and expect them to be good quality.

along the lines of coolant hoses silicone ones are cheaper and easier than metal ones (in my opinion)

more then likely its the fact your buying cheap pumps thats causing your issues. i just asked about the filters to see if you maybe were sucking up crud from the bottom of the tank. the pre-pump filter i mentioned is just an inline filter before the pump. to test voltage you need a multimeter on the two wires going into the pump. for the record you want 12v+ low volts can hurt a motor with time but your problem seems to be happening too quick for that.

my upper radiator hose is exhaust piping purchased from the local autoparts store. ive been using it since i my vortech. i got the kit used and the guy did not include the upper radiator hose (the one needed to clear the sc bracket and sc itself) so i made my own. it never leaks and looks kinda cool so i never bothered to go back to stock when i sold the sc.

Haven't had time to mess with the car. I am gong to install a new with the warranty hopefully 3rd time will be a charm if not I am going to ask for my money back and have to buy a good pump. What brand do you all recommend? Can I check for 12 volt with out the pump or should I have one there, connected?
