Default 93 Oxygen sensors

On a 93 Mustang 5L. Are the connectors for the O2 sensors left and right or it doesn't matter?

I failed the Ontario emissions test. Since my car has 186,000kms. I decided to guess and replace the O2 sensors. The car has long tube headers and the previous owner lengthened the sensor wires. It was all bunched up by the oil pan.

The new sensors oddly reached on the passenger side but I also had to lengthen the wires by about 7" on the driver's side.

So not sure if the sensors were bad or if it's from the wires being crossed left to right but it passed and runs like a champ. Thanks.
