Default 87 5.0 Motor into an 82GT

I found a 5.0 Mustang motor out of a 1987 Mustang GT in town here for $350 without the EFI intake and crap. I like it because its 225BHP stock w/ a roller block and forged pistons...i just have a few questions. It has the alternator, a/c pump, etc etc bolted on and the belt is good. Will i need to change any wiring harnesses from the 82? and can the 82 wiring handle the extra amperage from the 87 alternator. Also, i am going carburated, and the 82 was carburated with the 2BBL to start with. I am going with an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake with an edelbrock 650 carb, i just need to know if i need electric choke, or manual choke, and what if any problems i may run into when doing this swap. ...If this helps, i bought a new 3 core aluminum radiator, FRPP 10.5" King Cobra Clutch and FRPP 10.5" flywheel w/ all new hardware and dowel pin. Brand new pilot and throwout bearings of course..and it is bolting up to a T-5. Hope i didnt forget anything..thanks A LOT for any help.

You shouldn't have any problems out of the accesorys, but you will need to use the distributor out of the 82 since the 87 has TFI and relies on the ecu to advance timing and etc.And you can use either the man. or elec. choke, its just more of your choice, but if it was me i would get the electric. And ford's don't really agree with the edlebrocks and you are probaly revering to a 600 cfm carb unless your getting there new AVS carb which is a true 650.I could go on and on with this subject, but i would look into a street avenger carb from holley.

Alrighty ill go with the street avenger then What kind of horsepower would i be looking at out of that 87 motor with headers, dual catback, the performer rpm intake, and the 650 holley carb? I was thinking around 260BHP? I am having the guy who owns the motor help me with it, so it should go fairly smoothly Ill get some pics up once i get her going.
