Default can't stay cool

my car for some reason is running hotter than normal right around the R on the gauge and now the coolant is foaming in the radiator, i drained the coolant and put new coolant in and it still is running hot and everytime i shut the car off the needle on the gauge goes off the chart but i think that that problem might be the gauge and help would be appreciated

Sounds like you have air in your cooling system. And i really can't remember how to bleed the 5.0 cooling system right off hand, hopefully somebody will chime in that can give you the process.

should pretty much bleed itself..but try this, take all the hoses off and clean them off, flush the whole system with plain water, put it back together and put new coolant in. Leave the coolant fill cap off and run the car for a while, add coolant as needed.
