Default 90 lx Hatch Latch

I have 1990 lx hatchback and for some reason one of the latches will go down but the other will not. I have taken it off and looked it over but sot sure how to fix this they both will not go down at the same time. When I had it off if I pushed one down then the other would release and vice versa. I have used white lithium on it to no avail.

Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you fix it I am open to suggestions.

Well I went out and wrapped duct tape around the striker and now it latches tight so I am guessing I may need a new striker

the hatch strikers come with a plastic bushing on them. replacements are available at most parts stores.

Kinda high from the last time I checked into hatch strikers, but it'll fix your problem and look better than tape, last longer too.

you can buy the bushings separately...downside is, you'll have to adjust the striker afterwards.

yup new strikers seem to be getting slightly harder to find.
and they are definitely more expensive.
i got a generic striker from pep boys for 10 bucks.
it doesn't latch absolutely perfectly but its a hell of a lot better than the old worn out striker i had and it eliminated the hatch rattle.
hell i might even put some electrical tape on the new striker until i decide to drop the cash on an OEM

Do you just unscrew the old striker with a hex head? Is it that easy?
