PLEASE ANSWER< I NEED SOME ANSWERS FOR MY PROBLEM< I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IT COULD BE...i have a problem that is pissing me off. I was driving my car 3 days before i went to college and my tranny blew.Arg!. anyway, i got a new one about a week ago, well it isn't new but it has less than 25,000 miles on it. We swapped the tranny out today and put the newer one in, it took us about 4 hours. We did a nice job of it. here is my problem. We filled it up with fluid, but we lost alot when we were putting it in, but my friend we did it with said he filled it alot so we were just losing the excess. but we finished and i took her for a spin.putting it into first the first time was just fine, but i started going and i shifted into second and it made a quick grinding noise before it went into second. what is that? it doesn't do it shifting into 3rd, 4th, or 5th. it is hard to put it back into first too, i really have to push hard. it also doesn't downshift into 2nd from 3rd all the time, i have to play with it for a couple seconds before it does it. and downshifting into 1st from 2nd it also grinds. so there is some of the grinding noise trying to shift into1st and 2nd, and it is hard to put it into 1st, and it is hard to shownshift from 3rd to 2nd...does anybody know what my problem is? i really need to know what my problem is? if anyone knows what it is please tell me...i think it needs more fluid since we lost alot putting it in. please help me!

Didn't I already answer?

I believe that the fluid, although helping, would not be the thing that causes your gears to grind. Either they are not correct inside the tranny, which probably isnt the case, or you clutch assembly is messed up. If your grinding a bit, it means that you clutch isnt fully engaging/disengaging each time, and your clutch cable may be a problem too. Since you dont get far enough away from the gears when clutch is disengaged, your gears grind a bit because the teeth arent far enough apart when they switch. So check the clutch out, and make sure you aligned it properly, and that the cable is ok, and everything is connected. Others will help you out, and I'm sure someone on here is a big tranny (lol), so you'll be good, just give it a few hours. This would be my best guess though.

The fluid would help but the internals of the tranny are getting worse every time you drive it. i would adjust your clutch and see if that helps. it may not be releaseing all the way. second the tranny itself is shot or going to be shot real soon. the syncros are going out of it. the little dogs that line the gears up are getting wore and this thing needs to be rebuilt.

the thing is i just bought this tranny and it was rebuilt no more than 25,000 miles ago, we just put it in today, it only does the little grinding noise from frist to second and second to first. ik now you answered the question 95stealth302, but i just wanted to get a second opinion. we are going to put fluid and gear oil in it tomorrow and if that doesn't work we are going to check the clutch cable. i hope this tranny isn't shot too, i just bought it, that sould be so bad and i would kill the guy who sold it to me...but i really hope this tranny is not bad too..

Sorry i meant just the transmission fluid, but it is really hard to put it into first now. i put the fluid that i had in it but it wasn't enough to fill it, and the grindingnoise was a little less, but there is a whirring noise where the stick is when my foot is off the clutch, when i push the clutch down to the floor the noise stops. doeas anyone know what that could be?

well what can i do to fix it?. i put all the fluid in so it is full now, and it is still making the grinding noise when i put it into first and 2nd, also that whirring noise...stops when i push down the clutch but the whirring goes with the RPM's...when i rev it, the whirring noise goes faster and gets a little louder with the RPM's of the engine..does anybody know what the f*ck is wrong, i am getting angry now

If its just from the tranny, then the singing/shhhhhing noise means big trouble for you "new" transmission. You'll have to take it to a shop or take it apart. I'm pretty sure that you clutch is out of alignment, or not engaging properly, and that your syncros are shot. Those two last ones might just solve it.
