Default all messed up???????

so i had a bode stok 5.0 and over winter put a comp cam and bbk ssi intake w/ 24lb injectors in and from the second i started it there was oil smoke comming out the exhaust and when you start to get on the gas the pcv valve blows out and oil comes out my valve covers and it smokes real bad (oil). so my queston is could this problem be in my heads? went to a 550 lift cam from stock. or is it probilly my rings, the car had no issues prior the cam and intake swap. also could a flat tappet block be converted to roller, if so what would i need.

could have a ring issue, sounds like blowby??...as for flat tappet conversion, you'd nee expensive link bar lifters = 450.00+ last time I checked.....heck for that price you could get a used roller block to rebuild

That intake is junk and the injectors are too big and do nothing for you. The 19lb injectors are all you will need until you get a set of aluminum heads put on. I also bet that if you do get the car out and running that its slower than what it was stock. A big misconception is that swapping the cam out is going to help but in reality the stock cam is a great cam and doesn't need to be changed out until the heads are changed.

well i found a deal on craigslist on a set of patriot freedom heads 185s. set up for a 600 lift. for 700, going to pick up in a couple of hours, no i didnt recalibrate, b/c i was told if i only went to 24 lb injectos that it would run a little rich but realy would hurt anything. should i probilly put new rings in while i already have the motor tore down to the block, the cylinders look good no scratches or grooves.

Come back, do not spend money on Patriot. Oh well live and learn...ask how deep the water is before diving in.

Patriot head are better than stock but for the price you paid there are alot better sets out there. Did you end up using the 24lb injectors? Yes they do have to have a matching MAF to function properly.

heres an explanation for the first quote you had a blown headgasket from a oil galley to the cylinder check for leaks on the old gaskets and see if theres a spot that it was coming across now you know what to expect if that happens again
