where do I look for a shorter belt?
Where do I look for a shorter belt if I am going to replace the stock one? Which are the brands to look for and are they available in local auto parts stores? How would I ask for one?

Any auto parts store should have them. Just tell them what kind of car its for, or if you are bypassing something, you will have to tell them what length you need.
