Default 95 Mustang GT Accelleration Trouble

I bought my 1995 Mustang GT 5.0 Convertible with automatic trans 3 years ago, and the trans went almost immediately. I had it rebuilt for $1900, and the car has been fine ever since. 3 days ago, something happened where I had to slam on the brakes hard, and then put the pedal to the floor to avoid an accident. As soon as that happened, every time I would touch the brake to stop, the car jolted hard, and then every time I took my foot off the brake and tapped the gas pedal, the car jolted the same way. It rapidly progressed from this to the trans feeling like it wasn't kickin in at all. On Friday, I pulled out of my driveway (reverse is fine), and put it in drive and the car was barely crawling forward. RPM needle was goin crazy, speed needle stayed at 0 with the car revving, screaming as if it wanted to go. With some coaxing of the gas pedal, something eventually "caught" and it smoothly accellerated. Until I had to stop again. Then at the next traffic light it would start all over again. Saturday was much worse, taking longer and longer to catch, and Sunday it didn't feel like it was ever going to go. It does feel better after it sits overnight, because the first time I drove it each day it got me a few miles down the road before acting up. So, I just want to know if anyone knows what this could be. Oh, and when first trying to make it go by coaxing the gas pedal, it also makes this metalic rattling sound that seems to be coming from either under the driver's side seat or under the hood on that side. Of course, I could be wrong all together, and it could be anywhere. My car had been rattling on and off for the past several months, and no one could find what it was, and now all of a sudden it magically stopped when this happened. Don't know if it's related, but it could mean something. I checked the trans fluid and it's fine. Thanks!

I wasn't looking for an instant fix, or a guarantee. Just an opinion. What else would a Forum entitled "Ford Mustang Tech" be for? The car is at my mechanic's now, so I am paying him to look at it. Thanks anyway.

what on earth propmpted a response like this PAL!?????? he gave you his opinion and I see nothing but that, just because it isn't what you want to hear doesn't mean you need to get a tad upset, stick around, be patient and learn, that is what it's really all about, welcome and happy trails
