Default Pilot Bushing

So I bought a good BW t5 (i researched the numbers on it) and I went to put it in after pulling the old one. After pulling off the clutch I realized that the bushing was smaller and would not accommodate my new transmission. So I pulled it only to be unable to find a bushing/bearing that fits into the crank and can accept my new t5.

What the heck I am stuck any one run into this or heard of this? The Mustang is an 83 with a swapped in motor; an 80's 302 I am pretty certain.

83 and up use same pilot. So what you are saying is the transmissions differ.

someone most likely put a 4cyl t5 in it, buy a 5,0 bushing and put it in.

Default sooo yea..

This is my first 5.0, manual oh and rear wheel drive car even. Definitely learning a lot from this project.

I had a heard time getting out the bushing and I only pulled out the brass core not the rest. Looked at it again with fresh eyes got a puller tool and the rest of the bushing popped right out so now the new one fits right it. yea I am smacking my self on the forehead.

LOL... did the exact same thing last night. NEXT time I will have a bearing puller.. Lots of extra work if you don't have one..

Yeah, removing those bearings/bushings can be a pain sometimes. Also be sure to use a pilot BEARING and not a bushing. Except there's a newer bushing out now that's made of Kevlar or Teflon, or a mix? I can't recall exactly, but it's an extremely low surface friction bushing.
