Smog Pump Removal
 

This is the first time posting and my "stable" includes '93 2.3, '97 sixer vert and my new one '90 GT. Ok, the GT has the smog pump and I want to remove it. I know to remove the pump itself but what I need to know is what to do with the holes in the block. Thanks

5/8-11 x 3/4" long bolt to plug the thermactor holes in the heads. Very good chance they won't thread in very easily, you almost surely will need to clean the threads out.

^^ which will be a royal pain in the a$$ with the heads on the car.. i did mine when i did my hci and i had to use lots of carb cleaner and a tooth brush along with threading and un threading the bolt.

but i used plugs not bolts. they are the same size but dont have the head on it just an allen head in it.

but as for everything else just disconnect the vac lines and your set. besides needing to buy a shorter belt
