Default cold air intake

i was just wondering if there is a hp difference between a fenderwell mount or one that sits in the engine compartment.

fenderwell will more likely than not draw cooler air, but i hear those short ones give low end or something. i hear nothing bad about densecharger fenderwell cai's, but i wouldnt count on any intake making a big *** difference. basically, get the cheapest one causethey allwill give throttle response and a little power in most cases.

I've heard it really doesn't make much of a difference - there are better places to spend the money.

Don't get one that sits in the engine compartment. It becomes a "hot air intake" and they suck. Get one that goes into the fender well so it flows cold air. If it's a foxbody with the stock box filter, remove the silencer and put in a k&n filter. You may not gain a ton of hp from drawing outside air, but I can guarantee you will lose power by mounting it under the hood. Colder air is denser, thus there is more of it to put into the engine. If you're going to do this inexpensive mod, do it so it makes a difference. Otherwise, you're modding backwards.

You can use header wrap on the chrome ones to help with that.

get the fenderwell kit...it works better and you dont have to clean it as often as you do with the one that sits on the engine...as to which draws more horsepower i would say the fenderwell cuz its drawing cooler air than the engine one...ive got the fenderwell kit in my cobra and it works great, jenna
