Default Fuel Odor/Vapors Inside And Outside of Car

We have a 94' Mustang GT we've owned for years. This summer it started giving off a strong fuel oder around the passenger area of the car. So bad I can smell it from a good distance away. It get's pretty bad inside the car too. My daughter drives this car now and I'm concerned about the fuel smell possibly causing someone inside to become sick. Has anyone else had this problem and or know the cause?

Check under the car for the evaporator line. It goes up to the charcoal canister. It might have broken on you.

Already replaced the hose going to the canister. It was rotted. Thought that would help but it didn't. Thought about just plugging it off. Would rather fix it right. Is there some kind of check valve to prevent fuel from getting to the canister? BTW-nice car. I had a black 85' GT with those same wheels.

I would check the rubber gasket around the fuel tank where filler goes in. On my fox it is a simple rubber ring around the edges of the tank, fuel filler just sticks through it.

The top of the tank has a vapor valve.

That could be the culprit. I wish there was someway of knowing for sure before pulling down the gas tank.
