Default coolant gauge fluctuation

was driving into work tonight and as i looked down, the coolant gauge was on the lowest bar(the engine was definitely warm) which iirc its 130*. i kept driving as i was only a couple miles from work. looked down a few seconds later and it was back up to where it is normally, which is the 2nd mark up from 130. ok. no big deal. as i pull into work i look down and its back at the 130 mark. is this a pre-warning to the coolant temp sensor going bad or do you think it could be something bigger/worse? i had the ecu replaced last winter, which isnt to say it couldnt be going bad, but i would hope it would last longer than 8-10 months....any suggestions?

What i did to check the sensor for my coolant temp gauge is I grounded the wire that connects to the sensor and checked if the gauge read high and was way up. If it is just replace the coolant sensor
