Default Release Bearing issues!!

Hey guys, I installed a RAM HDX clutch kit in my 88gt a couple weeks ago. I have an adjustable clutch cable and a double hook quadrant. I believe that I adjusted the cable properly to allow the release/engagement point halfway of the total pedal travel. I heard this whining noise on Sunday, went to grease the release bearing on monday after disconnecting the cable completely and found the release bearing in 3 pieces...so, i replaced it with the HD FRPP bearing, but i really don't want to do it again. I need some help on what did or could've gone wrong to destroy the bearing this fast!!

to much preload, it should have tension on it but realatively light to moderate, or just a faulty bearing to begin with/ cheap china junk

well, i tightened the cable up in about 12 different stages increasing tension each time. i tightened it until i could shift smoothly, and my release point was as soon as i started to lift my foot. so tighten tighten tighten, and now it's about 1/2 way the total distance of pedal travel. sound right?

Went 1332 miles on Ram throwout bearing and it started to whine. Replaced with Ford Racing throwout bearing

There are many different ways to get to the same place. 1/2 way up for engagement sounds about right but the slight preload method is better.

yeh, mine lasted less than 2 weeks so we'll see how the new one does. the only thing that bothers me is that i have to tighten the crap out of the cable to get the tob in the proper position so i can shift smoothly and allow for proper engagement. i feel like i'm putting too much preload on it. i mean i know the pressure plate "fingers" are stiffer than an oem replacement on, but there is absolutely no slack in my cable whatsoever. even my king cobra had a tiny amount of slop. ideas?

No slack is correct.
