radio short

Default radio short

i have a 1986 mustang gt. i have a short in my radio, when its pluged in and i turn the headlights on the fuse blows, i was wondering if i can have my radio on when i dont need my lights and when i do just unplug the radio. i dont know how to fix this problem either and my dad doesnt want to take the time to show me. so any suggestions?

is this an oem or aftermarket radio?? if so where did you tap the poer and memory wire onto?? the headlight circuit?? are you running an amplifier also??

its an aftermarket kenwood radio, i dont know how its hooked up, the guy i bought it off of hooked it in wrong the only thing i could tell you is what wires are hooked into what and thats about it. i dont know how to do electric wiring.

unhook what it's wired into and rewire the power and grounds to a circuit that can handle the load
