When you cross the two big lugs on the starter solenoid you are actually bypassing TWO things. All this tells you is the starter is ok.

To engage a starter solenoid you need 2 things. A signal from the ignition switch when it's in the start position and a signal from the clutch switch. When you have both, you have cranking.

please tell me how i gave bad info when i wasnt guessing cause like i said i just went threw this so i know a little of what i am talking about. if i am wrong i am wrong but that is how i checked my starter solenoid and found it was bad. not bad info just lets you know that your solenoid is bad.

Mattdel is correct and you did get lucky. Not saying the soleniod isn't bad, but that's the incorrect way to test and verify it.

To the op, it's a coincidence, swapping the tranny would in no way have any direct result in the car not starting.

It's wasn't the starter solenoid as I was able to jump the car from the solenoid. I will get the clutch switch done today. I appreciate the passion in the replies. All of you are helping me tremendously and I thank you for all the help! I"ll keep you all informed! Check back tomorrow for the update. Thanks again.

JFstram,
BY "clutch switch" do you mean the clutch pedal position switch? I've called some shops like auto zone and advance auto and they have no listing for it. Can anyone let me know exactly what it is or send me a part number. Thanks

On the clutch pedal assembly itself, you'll find a switch with a 2 wire connector on it. Unplug the connector from the switch, and jump the 2 terminals with a paperclip or a small wire. If the car starts, you found the problem.
