Default Help! Swapped my trans and now my ignition switch wont start car.

I just swapped my blown tremec 3550 for a WC T5. Right after doing the swap I was unable to start the car unless I jumped it from the starter. The stang is a 92 LX 5.0 with no major mods and I never experienced any problem starting the car prior to this. When I turn the key I get nothing! No clicking or noise of any kind. If I put my jump box on the starter the car turns right over with no issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is my daily driver. Thanks

I should have put in my thread that the mustang is a 5.0 5 speed. Could it possibly be the ignition module? Thanks Nitrous bob

yeah the switch to know the clutch is in was what i was referring to.

did you ground anything out by accident that might have fried the selonoid ? i'd try it cuz they are $5 and it doesnt hurt to have a spare. i have smoke enough to always have one on hand

no it is NOT the ignition mod, bad mod will turn over all day just no fire

fyi i do NOT think that jumping the starter woul dbypass the clutch switch... so thats probably the best place to start

jumping the starter will bypass the switch and the car should fire if the key is on. the switch at the pedal only suppresses starter engagement, it doesn't kill spark.

Thanks to those who responded. I'm going to try the starter solenoid today. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks again!

you can jump the starter with out pressing in the clutch if that what you mean

also if you take a wrench and connect both side of the starter solenoid and the car starts its your starter solenoid (just went threw this)

no, you just got lucky. you didn't verify that you had incoming power from the ignition switch, telling the solenoid to switch. don't spread bad info if you're just guessing.
