lean condition how to tell?

if you are running lean what would the symptoms be?

I do get a backfire when the car is cold but not when warm.

no check engine light

you could hear spark knock (detonation)

check your plugs after running it hard....shut down quickly and check them out

Have you run the EEC1V tests? The memory may have your answer. Things that are amiss do not always turn on the cel.
