I have an 88 Gt. I was having ignition problems and decided to change the switch out. I took the switch out, too easy, but now it won't go back in correctly. I put the switch in the on position, it fits in the lock cylinder and the pin sets but the switch is stuck in the start position. The key won't turn back into the lock position and the key won't come out of the ignition. Does ANYONE have a clue what the problem could be??? All the instruction manuals say it should come out and go right back in without a problem, it looks fool proof but of course I AM HAVING A PROBLEM!!

Not unusual, what has happened is you need to align where tumbler goes in to proper key actuation. Stick a screwdriver into slot and turn. May take a few stabs. Crazy things happen. Done it to me at dealership several times.
